Montrail-Nathan Blue in a Sea of Pink

by Team Montrail on August 22, 2007

I had the most inspiring day last Saturday! I was asked to speak to over 200 women who are training for the 25th annual Charlottesville Women’s Four-Miler about “How to Run a Race.” Most of these women have never competed in ANY athletic event and they have been training diligently for the past 12 weeks, so I was flattered and honored to be asked to give them some advice about how to approach the race. The Four-Miler raises a significant amount of money each year for the University of Virginia Hospital’s Breast Cancer and Breast Health programs (the goal this year is $200,000), and many of these ladies are running the race in honor or in memory of someone affected by breast cancer.

Do you remember the butterflies you felt before the first race you ever ran? I do. I’ll be cheering for these remarkable women on race day–Saturday, September 1– while I give thanks for this incredible sport that brings us all together to raise awareness, promote healthy living, and change lives.
