As we all know, it’s full on racing season, and here in California, the snow is finally melting up high, the rivers are raging and the mild temps of summer have set in along the Bay Area. Here at Montrail HQ, we’re pretty focused on Western States 100 in a few weeks, and man are we jazzed about it! At the same time though, there are events going on across the nation and Team Montrail athletes are out there getting it done.
Here’s what some of Team Montrail is up to right now:
Matt Hart and Dakota Jones are running San Juan Solstice 50 on Saturday. This is a demanding and very challenging course in the San Juan mountains of Colorado. Snow will likely come into play at higher elevations.
Sean Meissner is currently out running the Desert RATS stage race in Moab. Here’s what he had to say about it: “This is my first A race of the year, and as such, I’m in it to win and try to set a new course record. The defending champ/course record holder is returning (randomly his name is Shaun M) and so I’d say he’s the guy to beat. He threw down great times last year on pretty much every stage (and as a result, overall), but as it was pointed out to me, last year was a cool year, as the highest temp on any given day was only 83 or 84. But he still ran fast. Anyway, I’m super excited! “ Good luck Sean!!
Ellie Greenwood, coming off a couple excellent races recently, is preparing for the Kneeknacker 50km and has also announced that she’ll run the Canadian Death Race later this summer. Watch out!
Eric Grossman, the beast from the east, will hit the trail of West Virginia this weekend at the Highlands Sky 400-Miler, as he makes strides in recovering from an injury last summer.
Max King is fresh off a win at the USATF Trail 1/2 Marathon National Championship in Bend, Oregon and will fly out to New Hampshire next weekend for the Mt. Washington Road Race, as will our new friend Timmy Parr. Good luck to you all! This race acts as the U.S. National Mountain Running Championships.
Finally, we have a slew of Montrail athletes racing and attending Western States 100. Racers include: Annette Bednosky, Erik Skaden, Gary Robbins, Geoff Roes, Jill Perry, Joelle Vaught, Luanne Park and Ryne Melcher. Others who will be pacing, crewing, volunteering, or just attending, are Bev Anderson-Abbs, David Horton, Luis Escobar, Matt Hart, Sean Meissner and Terri Schneider. That makes 15 out of our 20 North American athletes who will be at Western States. Look out for Team Montrail!!
Upcoming Montrail sponsored events in the month of June include:
San Juan Solstice 50, Highlands Sky, Great Adirondack Trail Run, Mt. Hood Scramble, Western States 100, Steamboat Springs Running Series Duathlon and the Cranmore Hill Climb (USATF-NE Mountain Running Circuit).
Enjoy the trails!
