How were you introduced to your sport?
I witnessed the Western States 100 Mile Endurance Run on several occasions in the early nineteen-eighties.

Tom Johnson, Western States 100 Mile Endurance Run Champion (1990, 1991, and 1993).
What advice would you give to newcomers to (your sport) today?
Be patient for success to arrive. With a little talent and hours and hours of deliberate practice each week, you can accomplish what initially may seem like insurmountable goals.
What the first thing you look forward to doing after a long run / race?
Yoga
How do you balance your training schedule with your “real” job?
Develop, then hone, effective time management practices during the workweek, and take advantage of long outings on the trail on the weekends.
